Provided by AGPA special counsel team has also moved to contest a decision by an appellate court that imposed a four-year prison sentence on Kim Keon Hee, citing corruption allegations.
Late last month, the Seoul High Court upgraded her punishment from an earlier 20-month term to four years in prison. The court concluded that she was partially responsible for involvement in a stock price manipulation scheme and also found her guilty of accepting luxury gifts linked to the Unification Church.
The appellate ruling came after it overturned a previous lower court decision that had cleared her of participating in the stock manipulation activity and had only convicted her of receiving some of the luxury items.
In addition to the prison term, she was fined 50 million won (around $34,000). The court also ordered the confiscation of a necklace and the forfeiture of approximately 20 million won (about $13,590).
Kim is the wife of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was removed from office last year following a ruling connected to the imposition of martial law in December 2024.
He has since faced multiple legal cases and is currently serving a life sentence related to that martial law decision.
