Kennedy Center Removes Trump Branding Following Court Order
Executive Director Matt Floca said the decision was carried out in compliance with a judge's order directing that Trump's name be removed from the building.
According to available information, workers began dismantling the signage on Saturday after sections of the building's exterior had been covered the previous day in preparation for the work.
The action follows a decision by US District Judge Christopher Cooper, who ruled that any official change to the institution's name could only be authorized by Congress. The judge also ordered the removal of references to Trump from the building and related materials.
Reports said an appeals court declined a request from the Kennedy Center on Friday to pause the ruling while the case proceeds through the courts.
The institution had argued that reverting to its previous name could lead to confusion among the public and might affect private donations connected to the naming change.
The controversy originated from a decision by the Kennedy Center's board to rename the performing arts venue after Trump and place his name on the building's facade.
