Gov. DeSantis appoints Judge Marlon J. Weiss to the Fourth DCA

Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Circuit Court Judge Marlon J. Weiss to the Fourth District Court of Appeal on September 4. Judge Weiss previously presided in the circuit’s family division.

"On behalf of the entire 17th Judicial Circuit, we congratulate Judge Marlon Weiss on his appointment to the 4th DCA and wish him all the best," said Chief Judge Carol Lisa Phillips.

The elevation comes 16 months after Gov. DeSantis appointed Judge Weiss to the circuit court bench on May 19, 2025, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Chief Judge Jack Tuter.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve the people of the Great State of Florida on the appellate court,” Judge Weiss said. “I am profoundly grateful to Governor Ron DeSantis for entrusting me with this tremendous responsibility and I look forward to serving with integrity and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law.”

Judge Weiss is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and earned his juris doctor from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta. He is a longtime resident of Hollywood, with deep ties to South Florida. Born in Canada and raised in North Dade and South Broward, he is a graduate of North Miami Beach Senior High School.

Judge Weiss is the second judge from the 17th Judicial Circuit to  be elevated to the Fourth DCA recently. Judge Johnathan D. Lott was appointed in October 2025 to serve on the Fourth DCA after just over a year on the Circuit Court bench.
